Blue Island
“R&B’s wunderkind finds her new pop groove”
Hypnos
“The 23-year-old Chicago singer’s long-awaited debut makes a close study of R&B history, floating through weightless vocal arrangements with uncommon poise.”
Blue Island
“The record points clearly towards the future, one in which the Chicago singer is an obvious leader in pop, R&B, alt-anything, and whatever else she decides to lay claim to”
Bird’s Eye
“Bird’s Eye really feels like Ravyn Lenae stepping outside of the box and figuring out just how far she can take her sound. I love how she blends R&B with pop, rock, reggae, and these dreamy, futuristic moments without losing that beautiful, airy voice of hers. “Love Me Not,” “One Wish,” and “Pilot” are definitely standouts for me. It took me a little while to fully appreciate, but the more I listen, the more I understand what she was going for. A really interesting album from an artist who clearly isn’t afraid to experiment.”
Blue Island
“Blue Island feels like Ravyn Lenae letting herself explore without worrying about fitting into one box. I really like how she mixes R&B with ’80s pop, new wave, indie rock, and electronic sounds while still keeping her airy vocals at the center. “Handle,” “Sew Me Back Together,” “Familiar Dreams,” and “Saturday Night” are some of my favorites. It’s definitely different from HYPNOS and Bird’s Eye, but I appreciate that she’s willing to take risks and grow instead of making the same album twice.”
Hypnos
“I first heard about Ravyn Lenae through TikTok and finally gave HYPNOS a listen, and I’m honestly glad I did. It’s such a dreamy, smooth R&B album, and her voice is easily the standout for me. Songs like “Xtasy,” “Skin Tight,” and “M.I.A.” really pulled me in. It has that late-night, floaty feeling that makes you want to just let the whole album play. Definitely an artist I’m happy TikTok introduced me to.”
