Throughout its tenure, Radiohead has crafted numerous legendary albums steeped in heartbreak and unease. This shifted in 2007 with the release of “In Rainbows.” In Rainbows is a very lush and intimate record that transcends listeners into another dimension. Despite being more accessible and melodic, In Rainbows still manages to push a quietly devastating theme. The record is exceedingly compelling due to the fact it is emotionally rich, yet doesn’t sound overly dramatic or performative. I don’t consider this album a 10/10, not because it lacks quality, but because I personally gravitate toward the darker, more unsettling atmosphere of their earlier albums. Still, In Rainbows is undeniably a masterpiece, and I believe it is a High 9.
