Reviewing 2026 projects: Project: #011 Title: Nothing's About to Happen To Me Artist: Mitski Tagline: Mitski's chaotic mindset and overthinking is covered by the lush front that Mitski puts on musically. This isn't really my kind of music but I thoroughly enjoyed the project, with it representing a chaotic mindset, and a musical representation of overthinking, with some really relaxing content too. This project centring Mitski's mindscape and a very one sided conversation to another someone. The project itself doesn't feel like it is for everyone, but for the select amount of people it's for, it's a great project. In a Lake is an interesting start to the project, starting off with something so unusual for an intro track, though it is done pretty well I guess, quite a chill track, and Mitski's vocals are quite comforting. The beat drop is amazing as well. Track felt like a "calm before the storm" moment as soon as Where's My Phone?'s chaotic energy hits. Where's My Phone? felt quite underwhelming however, outro is great. Cats is a relaxing cover-up to a chaotic mind-scape, and I love that. The track itself is quite relaxing and a very easy listen for anyone as a matter of fact. If I Leave is similar to Cats, however just more a bit more chaotic and messy. Instead of Here and I'll Change for You feel like Mitski is plotting but vaulting a huge, desperate vent to the other someone that is on the side of the album. Charon's Obol feels more like a healing mentality than anything we've seen on the project so far, the background vocals are amazing. Lightning feels cyclical almost, almost perfectly mirroring In a Lake (album opener). The main progression though throughout the album is the large, healing wound.
