Tyler, The Creator: IGOR (2019)

A beautiful record that creates a heavy emotional narrative, which is masterfully hidden behind experimental work that adds introspection and psychedelic elements. At its core, IGOR tells a story about a love triangle where Tyler plays as a desperate lover clinging to someone who doesn’t want him. Across the tracklist, we move from infatuation (EARFQUAKE) to bitter acceptance (GGTY). My favorite aspect of this album is how Tyler manages to paint this picture without being over explanatory, his lyrics are often simple, but emotionally raw and delivered perfectly. I give this mid to high 9/10, which is incredible coming from a guy who isn’t a huge fan of Tyler, The Creator.
