💭 Thoughts: The debut from doom/stoner metal pioneers Sleep is a solid record, but it doesn’t quite click with me overall. However, the crushing riffs and thick, sludgy atmosphere are undeniably solid, and there are several standout tracks that I love. That said, the songwriting feels somewhat underdeveloped, with many songs blending together. I’m glad they transitioned towards a more stoner metal sound in their later albums.
