4.5 ★ I was really excited going into this album, especially because I already loved “Drop Dead” and “the cure.” Compared to SOUR and GUTS, this album feels more somber and reflective, with a softer, more tender sound overall. It still feels unmistakably Olivia Rodrigo, but like a more mature version of what she’s been building toward. What stood out most to me was the songwriting. The lyrics feel more metaphorical and symbolic, and the album flows together really well without feeling like it’s telling one specific story. It left me feeling soft more than anything else, with moments of tenderness, joy, and just enough pettiness to remind me whose album I was listening to.
