LONG.LIVE.A$AP (Deluxe Edition)
“A few months ago, A$AP Rocky's career seemed mired in purgatory as his major label debut continued to be pushed back. But LongLiveA$AP actually delivers on and even exceeds the promise of 2011's LiveLoveA$AP mixtape, preserving Rocky's immaculate taste while smartly upgrading his sound.”
LIVE.LOVE.A$AP
“The first mixtape from Rakim Mayers sidesteps the usual pitfalls of the heavily anticipated debut. Piloted by sweat-free cool and stellar production choices, LIVELOVEA$AP is a triumph of immaculate taste.”
Don't Be Dumb
“a suited, settled and self-assured return that doesn’t dim his light”
Don't Be Dumb
“Rocky’s back. After nearly a decade he’s been releasing yearly singles that were more misses than hits. Following his last release (his worst album), Don’t be dumb wasn’t looking promising. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised. This isn’t an album for someone looking for a lyrical miracle. It’s Rocky doing what he does best. Trap bangers with a psychedelic aesthetic. It’s catchy hooks and bragging about having kids with Rihanna. The subject matter might be an eye roll for some, but with Rocky’s flow, it’s hard not to nod along. This is why I feel like he’s my generations Snoop Dogg. His beat selection is fresh while also sounding familiar. There’s only two songs that don’t fit. STFU is him trying to be edgy (Playboi Carti) but it doesn’t go over well at all. Robbery’s a cool lounge jazz song that’s really creative. I just don’t think it’s cohesive with the rest of album. Fun bangers. Throw it on and don’t think too hard about the lyrics. Rocky’s one of my favourite childhood rappers. I was glad to hear he’s still got it.”
AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP
“A$AP Rocky is at his best with a more psychedelic production behind him. Again some of Rocky’s rapping is great on this album and the features on the album all play their part too. Not a long album but I still felt it could lose some of the tracks and make it a lot more of a better listen, however the highs of the album definitely outweigh the lows. Top Songs for me are “L$D” “Excuse Me” “Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2” “Jukebox Joints” ft Joe Fox & Kanye West “Everyday” ft Rod Stewart & Miguel”
LIVE.LOVE.A$AP
“For a 2011 release, most of the album holds up really well & some other songs haven’t aged as well. This is classic Rocky with a lot of the production and beats coming from Clams Casino which gives a psychedelic/boom bap sound that Rocky flows over effortlessly. Top Songs are “Peso” “Wassup” “Brand New Guy” ft ScHoolboy Q “Purple Swag” “Get Lit” ft Fat Tony “Trilla” ft A$AP Nast & A$AP Twelvyy “Houston Old Head” “Acid Drip” “Demons” “Sandman””
