“There's always a thorn or two sticking out of Speedy Ortiz's roses. Call me a musical masochist, but these prickles of minor tonality are what make the Massachusetts quartet stand out among peers content to merely nick ‘60s pop hooks and ‘90s indie rock fuzz. Of course, Speedy Ortiz has no shortage of hooks kept in check by feedback; their proportions just happen to hover near perfect.-=-=-=-
