“On its debut LP, Nupping, the Baltimore-based quartet Dope Body played heavy music that pillaged and sometimes parodied the riffs of 1990s mainstays like Jesus Lizard and Rage Against the Machine. Using a pile of foot pedals and a laptop computer, guitarist Zach Utz took riffs from yesterday’s moshpit fodder and rendered them into Plunderphonic-style mulch. The music was self aware, but visceral.
