“Fear of Men’s “Sane” spends the majority of its five minutes in a state of quiet tension. The verses are subdued as Jessica Weiss’ careful, searing falsetto longs for a state of calm through total isolation. “I’m free from fear,” she sings as synths pulse gently in the background, “I’m a monument to myself.” But when the big chorus hits nearly halfway through, it is not the cathartic free-fall one”
