Aggressive yet a classic under the Cloud Rap umbrella
Cities Aviv ‘BLACK PLEASURE 2012’ freshman tape is quite unique even 14 years later.
The album is relatively a mix of that nostalgic and hazy vibe but almost practically doing a 180 and going with a very raw and aggressive electronic sound.
Quite a consistent project with a few slow balls, but I found myself thinking a lot of these were great off of the first listen when I tried this.
I think this is such a great installment in the cloud rap because it’s always defined as the laidback and the more sprig putting it from Lil B - “a castle on top of a cloud”, and not much else.
I mean some pure cloud rap is great, but even so early on into the genre, Cities Aviv Managed to balance it to - in my opinion - polar opposite, a more industrial and chaotic sound, sort of like Yeezus.
A experimental stable in an already experimental rap subgenre. Try it out.
