On last year's self-titled debut, Holograms let us know the following things about them and not much else: they're Swedish, they're severe, and they're dead serious. On the first single from their upcoming follow-up Forever, they make those same points louder and clearer. The first thing you hear on "Flesh and Bone" is Anton Spetze's vocals, combatively loud and imagining one man trying to sound like a duet between Robert Smith and Iceage's Elias Bender Ronnenfelt. Holograms follow suit with those men's respective bands, drawing a post-punk continuum between the former's depressive murk and the latter's strident, militaristic attack.
