On March 30, the German label Glitterhouse will issue The Journey Is Long, a posthumous collection of material from late Gun Club frontman Jeffrey Lee Pierce as covered by friends, collaborators, and fans. Following their collaboration for a similar 2009 volume, Nick Cave and Blondie's Debbie Harry have recorded the 1987 Gun Club track "The Breaking Hands" as a quiet piano ballad that also features strings, brushes, and bowed saw. Profits from The Journey Is Long will go to the Jeffrey Lee Pierce Foundation, offering instruments to underprivileged children in L.A. (via Mess+Noise)
