The lush electronics and jittery polyrhythms of "Fish Making Food" come straight from Foot Signal, the new album by Miami duo ROM, aka self-proclaimed "sound artists" Roberto Lange and Matt Crum. The pair presents an amalgamation of their separate musical pasts in this instrumental piece, as they invoke jazzy Chicagoan post-rock and glitchy IDM soundscapes. "Fish Making Food" folds together deft live drumming, simple bass plucks, wavering vibraphones, and effervescent production work for an organically forward-thinking combination.
