Blonde God

Diggin'

Release Date:  2012

Last week the prolific, crate-digging Iowa City label Night People released a free compilation of underground gems and oddities from their latest batch of cassettes. The comp, Spent Minds, features a broad range of outsider pop, jangly psych, cosmic dance music and more, including this crushing and explorative swath of depressed shoegaze noise from Tampa's Blonde God (a.k.a. Merchandise frontman Carson Cox). Disoriented vocal musings hover about, cutting the track's grating effect and adding an interstellar quality, while reverberating drums expand the pallette and conjure the far-off feeling of being blissfully lost.

Also featured on Spent Minds are Merchandise's David Vassalotti, Oakland dark synth trio Uncanny Valley, Brattleboro acts Blanche Blanche Blanche and Happy Jawbone, Melbourne's Pop Singles, Tokyo synth pop duo Fancy Books, Montreal artist/Dirty Beaches collaborator Femminielli, and many more.
