"Gouge", the first single from Virginia trio Eternal Summers' forthcoming The Drop Beneath, found the band taking a darker turn away from the jangly sound of 2012's Correct Behavior; new The Drop Beneath cut "A Burial" certainly has a dark title, but the band instead indulges their more anthemic side, and the results are solid. The Drop Beneath is out March 4 via Kanine.
