"Chalk Point" is the solemn, liturgical-seeming opener from The Clearing, prolific Chicago trio Locrian's followup to 2010's The Crystal World, out November 1 via Fan Death. As on that last record, the addition of drummer Steven Hess to André Foisy and Terence Hannum's dark, drifting atmospherics pays dividends.
