Dangerously in Love feels like the moment Beyoncé officially stepped out of Destiny’s Child’s shadow and showed everyone that she could carry an entire album on her own. Having grown up listening to her with Destiny’s Child, hearing her take that next step was genuinely exciting. Songs like “Crazy in Love,” “Baby Boy,” and “Me, Myself and I” still sound iconic, but what I love most is how confident and hungry she sounds throughout the album. It definitely has some early-2000s moments that feel dated now, but Beyoncé’s voice and presence make it hold up. Looking back, you can really hear the beginning of the superstar she was about to become.
