2 Chainz's "Birthday Song" was good for inadvertently birthing a meme, but as a song it's leaden and formless. UK duo Funkystepz-- who have been putting their pedal to the metal on remixes for the better part of a year now-- have no trouble fixing those issues. Their version is a playground of colorful sounds and noises, pitching up the original's synths for maximum cheekiness and drama and throwing in house pianos and a bopping siren for good measure. It works as a pure adrenaline shot, but it's also fun trying to unravel how exactly this madness was conceived by humans, daydreaming of Funkystepz remixing every single rap song.
