The first single from Kingdom's forthcoming Vertical XL EP, the Kelela-featuring "Bank Head", suggested that the NYC producer was heading in a new direction, one that leaned more towards pure pop and R&B forms. While we wait to hear the rest of the release, the second single from Vertical XL, "Corpse", showcases Kingdom's business-as-usual flair for gnarled, mind-wrecking beatcraft, with textures that are reminiscent of those that fellow Night Slugs affiliate Jam City utilized on last year's beguiling Classical Curves. The Vertical XL EP is out on May 28 via Fade to Mind.
