To me the albums feels a bit sarcastic and unclear, it’s almost like it’s too bright that it becomes shallow but there’s also something hidden and I think that’s what she meant about being behind the curtains, her persona as a showgirl is mainly narratively revolved around heartbreak, yk, and it’s actually more of a thematic album then a confessional one, and u don’t really think of Taylor as this showgirl, and i actually do kind of see some merit in showgirl, ruin the friendship for example, it feel like a return to form with her country roots, shes like this showgirl that accomplishes almost everything shes ever dreamed of, like seeing that part of herself thats still connected to something so long ago, its like this about kind of moving in life but theres this really abrupt unexpected thing that ties u back to that, its like this sudden feeling of nostalgia or something that actually meant so much to her thats dying, and the story of that song, it being actually like this guy she really liked, the album really feels like a career study album, its kind of up and down and a biy messy, its not about being the showgirl, its like almost trying to escape it, its not doing anything for the charts kind of, i do feel like its a bit intentionally bad, like she definitely knows its not her best, but still putting out something she loves, like something that stays is gonna be her commitment to doing something she loves of creating, and its also a bit about that, and theres a bit of kinda of giving the crown away in the life of a showgirl title track, its like being the showgirl has kind of taken bits away from her giving confessions and the meaning of it, with being the showgirl, people have their interpretations and the feeling of saying ur truth doesnt matter anymore, and i think that kind of reflects the vague writing, and how the album starts going into theme or persona instead of truths and confession, and it could really be a beautiful lead up to maybe a country album on the way, what also this album reminds is um sweet home alabama? its like given the choice of committing to this long career, success, respect, acclaim, and kind of choosing something that actually means a lot to u emotionally that you've left in the past, it also reminds me of Halle berry’s razie win, yk she has that Oscar win in the back, and sometimes there’s nothing wrong with trying something different and failing as long as u still love what u do, which actually explains the sarcasm of the album, there’s also a bit of Madonna bedtime stories in there, yk giving the public what they asked for and it’s also kind of mocking them, they’re both performing and telling like this hidden story message and it’s more about spectacle and it’s so opposite of confessing it through writing but still kinda is, and I think everyone being too dramatic about this, yall are obsessed with the idea of artist losing their touch just cuz they don’t give u what u want, her reputation some might say and she doesn’t even care about it anymore I think
