Nick Principe's début album as Port St. Willow is called Holiday, and it's just the kind of record that makes sadness feel like somewhere you'd want to stay a few days. "Amawalk" is both typical of the record, but extraordinary at the same time, as magnetically lugubrious as songs by the Antlers, Lightning Dust, Dark Dark Dark, even Wild Beasts and the National. Principe's striking falsetto (he's Sade for a split second) rises from the aquatic fog of militaristic drums and heavy-slumping guitar swoops to power through the mist like Shara Worden trilling from a cliff-top, lending "Amawalk" a muscular presence that'll follow you around for a week.
