There's always been a dreamy sense of reaching to Friendly Fires frontman Ed Macfarlane's vocals, something that Gang Gang Dance focus in on for this remix of the lead single from FaltyDL’s new album Hardcourage (out January 22). What was once was a shuffle-footed pop song made for rollerblading along to has been recast as a languid piano ballad, its pulse slowed but skittish as if in REM sleep. At least for the first half anyway.

A sample from a recording of a talk with the late Indian spiritual leader Osho acts as a turning point, returning the song to tonal house territory albeit spiked with backflipping chord loops. It is not Osho’s words we hear, though, but an anonymous woman asking of him: "For those of us who love to listen, can you once again say something about the unsayable." In a time when remixes have been largely reduced to marketing currency, Gang Gang Dance's rework stands out as authentic dialogue with FaltyDL's original work.
