Just a classic Doors track that needs no introduction. I really love the introduction of Manzarek’s keyboard in the beginning. It blends into Morrison’s vocals. Morrison’s vocals just stretch all across the track. His wailing and yelling of “break on through to the other side!” Is a catchy introduction to an amazing album. Although that’s true, I think lyrically it’s lacking. Morrison is a poet and it seems the lyrics are lacking in this department. As an introduction it doesn’t have to be thought provoking or introspective, but I can’t help but notice it’s lacking in that department. I do love this track, but not as much as other opening songs to other really good albums. I also really appreciate the keyboard solo in the track. This album is filled sht guitar and keyboard solos that I’ve come to appreciate over the years.
