The Vancouver producer’s new song feels like taking a deep, long breath
Yu Su’s music fits comfortably in any mood. The Vancouver producer’ tracks often evoke both joy and despondency, and her instrumentation balances natural and synthetic sounds. As it floats between new age ambient, jazz, and house, there’s a natural flow to her music, a vibe of supreme relaxation and meditation.
Her latest release, “Soon (Moa Mix),” remixes a highlight from the producer’s 2016 debut tape. It comes as part of a new vinyl reissue from Peoples Potential Unlimited. “Soon” is sedate but still energetic with its jazzy bass guitar and loose percussion. Reverberating keys and a bittersweet saxophone melody roll through the track like a cool breeze, imparting even more calm. Listening to “Soon” feels like taking a deep, long breath and letting the weight melt away from your shoulders.
