Street Eagles, the second LP from malevolent Portland trio Honduran, is a violent gyre of variable aggressions: Racing and breaking powerviolence collides with down-tempo metal, while mathematical shifts interconnect passages of uncomplicated blitz. Though the excellent title track arrives late during Street Eagles, it’s an apt summary of the band’s approach. They lurch for the first 45 seconds, throwing around the weight of their belligerent rhythm section. But the bursts they tease finally take over, with the band sprinting through a dense, driven hardcore melee. They settle back into sludge near the end of this two-minute blunderbuss, but even then the motion feels unsettled, threatening to lash out in another direction at any moment—or simply skip along to the next strange beast.
