Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins have always proved symbiotic on record together. The SoCal husband-and-wife duo's second collaborative LP, The Lighthouse, lands May 21 via their SomeOthaShip label, and first single “Popstopper” goes a long way toward pinpointing each half’s unique skillset. Over a wobbling, aqueous beat with modest drumming and light funk guitars, longtime Madlib associate Perkins delivers a Stones Throw-grade, positively nonlinear verse. Muldrow, on the other hand, dominates the track melodically, using that beyond-elastic voice of hers for our enlightenment: “Loneliness can grow into something you can’t control."
