After the slow, skeletal "World", L.A. art-song composer Julia Holter's second single from Loud City Song (out August 20 in the U.S. and a day before everywhere else via Domino), "In the Green Wild", is sanguine and locked-in, propelled by an upright bass and quasi-tribal percussion. There's tension between the sounds of safety and the sounds of threat: As "In the Wild" builds, the taut chants of the first two minutes give way to music so breezy and ethereal it sounds like it's about to peel away from the tape it was recorded on.
