this may be the happiest recording i’ve ever heard. i’m not even a massive claude fan but he, the band, and most of all the thousands of young people in the audience (for once in live recordings miked and mixed beautifully into the song)… everyone is joined in the same singular propulsive ecstasy. imagine if someone at EMI had the foresight to do a live Beatles record like this in the early 60s.
