Vancouver-based indie-pop mainstay Rose Melberg's discography over the last two decades is accomplished, with work within a handful of bands (Tiger Trap, the Softies, Brave Irene) and her own solo career as well. "Distant Ships," her contribution to a DIY "single-sided singles" subscription series from Vancouver label Kingfisher Bluez, is a window into her refined world of sound: breezy guitar lines delivering simple melodies, soft, sweetly harmonized vocals, and songs that know not to overstay their welcome.
