Spanish dance producer John Talabot is a master of the slow-build. His sense of pacing is uncanny, timing the point of release just so, for maximum release of pure pleasure, whether it be the ecstatic chants that unfold on his 2009 breakout single "Sunshine", or the gorgeous yo-yo synths that bounce behind Glasser frontwoman Cameron Meisrow's voice on last year's "Families". Following in the latter track's footsteps is "Destiny", a cut from Talabot's forthcoming LP, fIN, which features contributions from like-minded producer Pional. The song finds Talabot working in darker confines, with a squishy low end thumping and bumping against the track's club-ready shades. The dusky, sighing vocal line, however, is really what brings "Destiny" full circle, giving the track a Junior Boys-like vibe and further revealing the beating pop heart beneath Talabot's productions.
