On June 12, Douchemaster will reissue Blood Bleeds, the debut album by Athens, Ga.'s Vincas, which got a very limited release earlier this year. It's sort of an odd fit for the label. Douchemaster specializes in throwback power pop by artists like Gentleman Jesse. Meanwhile, Vincas offer rock'n'roll muscle that's closer in tone to Danzig or Motörhead. "Hell Ride", a highlight from the album, begins with a smoldering vocal backed only by a drumbeat. When the guitar and bass crash in, the vocal shifts into a howl, and the song starts to sound vicious enough to score its titular drive. Quickly, it becomes a song brimming with momentum, screeching guitars, and intimidation. It's straight-faced tough guy posturing, and when it's doled out by a dude belting the words "hell ride" over a bashing rhythm and distorted guitar, it's extremely satisfying.
