Get the appA beautiful told story
I haven’t listened to too many lyrical artists like Cole so maybe I’m tweaking when I say this but this is the greatest storytelling album I’ve ever heard. From a storytelling standpoint I could really feel and understand Cole talking about his friend James on this album. In songs like Deja Vu where James finally build the courage to talk to a girl he has liked for years seizing the moment and getting her number despite her having a man. Throughout this album James is expressing how growing up and becoming a product of street life has made him lose hope for a better life. Having to provide for his family regardless of the consequences of prison and then Being a ex felon it’s hard to get employed we really see the way James looks and perceives his situation and his environment. It’s so much more I have to say but overall this was a great album if you really hear what cole is saying.
