When Buried Beds' Eliza Jones sings, "Like stars above us/ We are all on fire" during the refrain during "Stars", it's meant to sound hopeful and reassuring. But the lyric is also a pretty ballsy, all-in show of commitment for the Philadelphia band, as you better be ready to bring some serious chamber-pop uplift to back up a statement like that. It's safe to say Buried Beds are up to the task; like the Canadian collective that shares its name with "Stars", Buried Beds possess a sly ambition, with classicist, form-fitting melodies and ornate arrangements that reassures high-school-orchestra kids that indie rock will have a place for them.
