#BLACKBRITISHMUSIC2025 was my favourite album of 2025. Before this, Jim had consistently shown that he was someone to watch, co-signed by some huge names. He’s also an artist you simply cannot put into one bracket — you can’t say he’s just a rapper or a singer. Over the years, he’s slowly evolved from primarily making rap music into experimenting across all different genres, and I think #BBM is only the beginning for Jim. Some criticise him for relying too heavily on nostalgia, while others reduce him to being a jerkbeat specialist, but I think #BBM shows that those are only parts of the bigger picture. A project this good has highs that are genuinely special. From the great Dave feature to the Fimiguerrero feature, where he perfects the hook and delivers one of the best songs of the summer, this feels like Jim’s breakout moment — and what an album to do it with.
