It’s almost impossible for me to review Graduation without being emotional about it. I grew up with this album. I grew up with Kanye. And every time I come back to it, nostalgia hits me immediately. But listening to it again today, with a much broader musical background than I had growing up, made me realize that nostalgia isn’t the only reason I love it this much. This album is genuinely incredible. The production still sounds huge, colorful and alive. The samples, synths, melodies and hooks create a world that feels completely its own. Songs I’ve known for years somehow keep revealing something new to me. Champion feels incredible, while tracks like Good Night and Everything I Am are straight 10s for me. There are albums you discover, albums you admire, and then there are albums that become part of your life. Graduation belongs to that last category for me. Personally, this is Kanye’s best album. Maybe I’ll never be completely objective about it and I don’t think I need to be. Music is also about memories, places, different versions of ourselves, and the feelings that come rushing back the second a song starts. Graduation takes me back every single time.
