Sonny and the Sunsets are readying their follow-up to last year's Longtime Companion-- an LP whose songwriting leaned more toward country. If "Dark Corners" is any indication, the album is yet another bit of evidence pointing to Sonny Smith as a prolific, versatile songwriter and an always-moving shapeshifter. The track offers quiet synths, which give the track the kind of cartoonish sci-fi feel you could expect on an album called Antenna to the Afterworld. But a careful listen to the lyrics highlights Smith's way with earnest, humble, and hopeful messages-- "I can't wait to find my little place in your weird world."
