this album feels like watching a whole movie through kendrick’s eyes. you start with him just being a kid in compton, riding around with his friends, chasing a girl, getting caught up in things he probably shouldn’t be in. then everything changes when he gets jumped and his friends go looking for revenge, which ends with dave getting killed. after that, you can feel kendrick realizing that this life could easily become his too. the way he tells the story, connects everything with the skits, and turns all of it into something deeper is crazy. you can really feel how much of himself he put into this album.
