In late June, Chicago quintet A Lull will vie for a chunk of your warm weather soundtrack with a new EP, Meat Mountain. The slyly seductive "Summer Dress" proves that the band has retained the heavily percussive nature of its 2011 debut LP, Confetti, effectively reminding listeners of the visceral power of rhythm and groove. Another element that stands out on Meat Mountain's lead track is its varied instrumentation and indelible hook, as singer Nigel Dennis waxes celebratory with an inviting falsetto over flute trills, saxaphone honks, and glassy guitar riffs.
