As Sleep ∞ Over, Stefanie Franciotti makes cavernous pop music out of intricately woven strands of ambient sound and distant vocals. He take on Vashti Bunyan's "I Want to be Alone" adds a marching drumroll, fractured horns, and what sounds like an army of flutes. Where Franciotti's previous work was steeped in shoegaze and electronic experiments, this cover head isn a different direction, bringing her voice-- which oscillates between a husky whisper and a full bodied-yell, while still adhering to Bunyan's cadence-- to the forefront. It feels classically psychedelic but not necessarily retro. Instead, it's a screwed-up take on an intimate song about the insanely complex emotions and problems that make you seek some time to yourself.
