23 year-old Scottish producer Denis Sulta loves drama. It was on a rainy night in Glasgow that Sulta found the inspiration for his big-room house tune “Dubelle oh xx (JVIP)” when he got into an argument with a stranger. Back in the studio, he imagined the disagreement as interweaving synth melodies, one staccato and one energetic, both brimming with personality. But true to the argument that night, the melodies eventually tussle for elbow room as the track reaches its confrontational climax of a stunning and disarming dubsteppy breakdown, so weird and out of place that it’s feels right. Sulta embraces the unexpected by just looking just past the dancefloor’s grid out into the unpredictable streets.
