In 2008, Mi Ami’s Daniel Martin-McCormick stepped away from punk to explore dance music’s hardware with his Lovers Rock imprint. He then deployed his Ital moniker to plunge into electronic music nonstop, last year releasing two barbed, scuffed albums (Hive Mind and Dream On) on Planet Mu. Now he's revived the Lovers Rock name for his latest single: Recorded at the Red Bull Studios in Madrid last summer, "Nodding" is a first-take jam rendered on Juno-60 and 909. Across its ten minutes, Martin-McCormick slowly deploys his keyboard's bird-like chatter and sustained tones, to woozy and hypnotic effect.
