I first really became aware of Ella Langley when she started blowing up this past summer with Dandelion, so going back to Excuse the Mess feels like seeing where that momentum came from. There’s something really refreshing about how unpolished and honest her country sound feels. She isn’t trying too hard to make every song perfect; there’s a little grit, vulnerability, and personality in the way she delivers these songs.

Excuse the Mess feels like a solid introduction to Ella as an artist, especially if you discovered her during the Dandelion era like I did. It definitely made me understand why so many people started paying attention to her.
