For seven years now, Manchester clubnight Swing Ting has been dishing out UK garage and grime alongside Jamaican bashment and dancehall. The combination of flavors is incendiary, complemented by a dub-packing, riddim-smashing squad of DJs, among them Balraj Samrai and Ruben Platt. On “Tease Me,” the duo channel the essence of a Swing Ting clubnight onto a track for its two-year-old label arm. Linking up with Kingston, Jamaica's Equiknoxx Music, Samrai and Platt lay down a barebones instrumental of woozy keys, shimmying percussion, and a hypnotic, shapeshifting bassline. Kemikal’s vocal performance is staggeringly well-suited to the beat. The way his flow plays with momentum is captivating, and combined with the twists and turns of the bass, it forms a wicked whirlpool of a tune that sucks you well in.
