Dick Diver are a four-piece from Melbourne, and like their Chapter Music labelmates the Twerps, they're a great jangle pop band. "Water Damage" is the first single from their upcoming album Calendar Days, out March 16. It's a gentle, unassuming track that starts with an atmospheric coo and sticks the landing with some beautiful, airy guitar work from Rupert Edwards. Soon, Edwards trades off vocal duties drummer Steph Hughes, as they both sing some conversational verses outlining a vulnerable scene. At one point, Edwards thinks he's recognized somebody in the movie he's watching, but mid-verse, can't remember the actor's name. The tone is probably similar to the feeling of hanging out in Dick Diver's living room, which feels appropriate for a song with such a relaxing approach.
