An insistent, woozy thump leads the way forward as Catherine Pockson tries to make sense of conflicting emotions for her significant other. "You're so cruel, but you're my heaven," she sings with a sure-footed woundedness that's equal parts devotion and end-of-her-rope exasperation. While Pockson is able to sell us on the fact this as an internal struggle she's wrestled with for months, when you finally come to a decision about something important like the fate of a relationship—as Pockson does here, casting off her doubts and embracing the singular qualities of her lover—it often feels like you've known the answer all along.
