jsbt reviewed Heavy Metal by Cameron Winter 1w

9.8

The lyricism on Heavy Metal is unlike anything I have ever heard, it is simultaneously profound and hard hitting while sounding like insane ramblings. Cameron’s vocal range is quite literally unrivalled, throwing himself between extremes on tracks like ‘Nina + Field of Cops’ and ‘$0’. Heavy Metal gives the listener the opportunity to be led solely by his vocals in a way that is generally lost on Geese records (this is a massive compliment to the rest of the band) as the more gentle instrumentation feels more like a support for Cameron than an equal part of the music. That being said, the backing music is itself beautiful and magical. Seeing these songs performed live felt more like a pilgramage than a casual gig.

Fav song : We’re Thinking the Same Thing
