Yohuna's songs are deeply intimate, even when shrouded in pain. The Berlin-via-Eau-Claire project of Johanne Swanson hasn't released a lot of music, but what has emerged are dreamy pieces often anchored by Casio keyboard and her voice. The songs deliver joy and hurt in a way that makes it feel likes she's sitting right across from the listener, highlighted by 2011's at-times-claustrophobic Revery and her contribution to this year's Orchid Tapes compilation.-=-=-=-

The new single "Para True" begins similarly, her vocals hanging atop a misty keyboard as she turns over a situation that has left her exasperated. And then everything bursts: a beat produced by fellow home-recorder Emily Reo picks up the tempo, and Swanson's singing joins in step. But this sudden change isn't a ray of light. It all builds to her repeating "I'm too young to fight" as the song draws to an end—an honest revelation in line with what Yohuna does best.
