It's been awhile since we heard from Danish producer and Kompakt affiliate Nick Eriksen, who records and performs as Taragana Pyjarama, a whimsical moniker that fits his music. On last year's Tipped Bowls, he curated sounds from other recent electronic albums into pretty little confections that were actually more complicated than they appeared, like a tower of delicate, sugar-spun cream puffs. Almost a year later, Taragana Pyjarama is releasing a follow-up mini-LP, Nothing Hype (out June 24 via the producer's own imprint, Wyrd), inspired in part by pictures of crystal caves. And "RAR", the second track off the record, reflects a certain sense of awe. Beat clusters form and then burst apart in sparkling showers as a halo steadily builds in the background, radiating a sense of warmth, like a candle in a dark, cavernous space.
