Jhené Aiko made her presence known on recent albums from the Black Hippy crew-- and most notably on the hook for Ab-Soul's "Terrorist Threats". But her voice on "Mirrors" takes a darker turn, as it creeps next to decaying drums and smoothed-over synths reminiscent of James Blake's lounge dubstep. The mood might be haunted-- the black and white freeze-frame video certainly helps-- but Aiko's giving consoling advice, at least until she reaches the final, mournful lyrics of "Mirrors": "Your face in broken pieces/Don't you look down/Shame I couldn't see this coming around".
